2008 Host Family

More than one anniversary is being celebrated in 2008; not only will the Hastings County Plowing Match and Farm Show celebrate its 20th anniversary but the Town of Stirling is celebrating its 150 year anniversary as a town.

In addition, the Stirling Agricultural Society is celebrating its 150th anniversary as an organization.

And this year's Hastings County Plowing Match and Farm Show is being hosted by the Carlisle family who dairy farm northwest of Stirling on Lake Road, adjacent to Hoards Road.

The 450 acre farm, known as Lysle View Farms Ltd. is owned by Ross Carlisle, his wife Elaine and son Jeffery.

The Carlisles are anticipating an exciting year of activities in the Town of Stirling and with Ross' 40-year involvement with the Stirling Agricultural Society, the location of the plowing match is a great addition to the events planned by the Stirling 150 th Anniversary Committee.

The Committee plans to kick-off a week of celebration beginning with the Stirling Fair and moving the fair's midway to downtown Stirling, where a number of interesting and fun activities are being planned.

More activities are scheduled to continue the following week when the Hastings County Plowing Match Committee hosts their annual agricultural event.

And the site for this year's match is located on the same parcel of land that was used for plowing competitions during the International Plowing Match held by the Hastings County Plowmens Association on the Dracup and Richardson farms in 1986.

The Carlisles invite everyone to join in the celebration activities planned for their municipality and to visit their farm during the Hastings County Plowing Match and Farm Show and celebrate 20 years of Eastern Ontario's largest annual outdoor farm show.
